Melt spinning: Heating a high polymer to an appropriate temperature above its melting point to prepare a melt. The melt is extruded by a screw extruder and pressed out of the spinneret hole by a metering pump, forming a fine flow that is injected into the air and condensed into a fine strip.

Solution spinning: Select an appropriate solvent to dissolve the fiber forming polymer into a spinning solution, or first make a soluble intermediate from the polymer material, then dissolve it into a spinning solution, and then proceed with spinning. This method is commonly used for viscose, vinylon, and acrylic fibers. Solution spinning can be divided into wet spinning and dry spinning according to different solidification conditions.

Dry spinning: using volatile solvents to dissolve high molecular weight polymers and produce a viscous solution suitable for spinning. Press the spinning mucus out of the spinneret to form a fine filament flow, which quickly evaporates and solidifies the solvent in the fine filament flow through a hot air sleeve, and is then stretched into silk. (Chlorine fiber, acrylic fiber, vinylon, vinegar fiber)

Wet spinning: Dissolving fibrous polymer in a solvent to produce a spinning solution, the spinning solution is sprayed out from the spinneret and enters the coagulation bath. Due to the diffusion of solvent in the viscous filament flow and the penetration of coagulants into the viscous filament flow, the filament flow solidifies into filaments.

The characteristic of wet spinning is that there are many nozzle holes, but the spinning speed is slow, which is suitable for spinning short fibers, while dry spinning is suitable for spinning long fibers. Usually, the same variety of chemical fibers are obtained by dry spinning with a more uniform fiber structure and better quality compared to wet spinning.
